Our Story
We met in church in 2001 and we’ve been stuck at the hip ever since! Once we married and started a family in 2008, we both knew that in our hearts we wanted to one day be able to adopt. Now in 2020, we have finally come full circle with that reality.
Over the last 11 years, we have had the ability to live in five different states and build a pretty great life together. Today, with our four daughters, we enjoy sharing in family time, children’s weekly sports or activities, living our faith out loud, and creating a story through our lives that we will always call memorable. There is always an adventure going on in our household — and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Because we are both pastors, we get the unique opportunity of sharing our family and lives with a larger world. With that, we have never let our vocation override what is most important to us — being parents and sharing our lives together with our children. We expose them as much as possible to a world that’s much bigger than them so they will have a well-rounded childhood and experiences that they will never forget. As our family prepares to go through another growth spurt, our plan is to be able to do the same with our newest additions!
Our Family
Our home is full of love! One of the amazing components that we have heard from family and friends alike is that our home has been a safe haven and a place of restoration for their fatigue. That love is driven from all four of our daughters, who consistently fill us with laughter, wit, their own unique flairs of creativity. Above all else, we believe that we have created a home and environment where a lot more love can still be given to more children.
If this booklet does not explain it enough, being parents and raising a family is the greatest joy of our lives. With a wide range of ages (7-14) of girls in our home, we know that we have been privileged to take a glimpse into the beautiful stages of life, growth, and adolescent development. Our children have redefined what love means for us. Daily, we get the joy of learning to execute it again and again in their little lives.
We live on the outskirts of Atlanta in a very quiet yet thriving suburb. We live far enough out to buy fresh eggs, yet close enough to city life that we can be at Target in 15 minutes. Our neighborhood provides a ton of opportunity for children to share in community with one another and we simultaneously have enough yard space for kids to be kids. The school system is one of the highest rated in the state consistently and provides significant levels of diversity. Our new additions will have their own space on our basement floor right across from the master suite. There is plenty of play space both indoors and outdoors!

If love and grace had a body, I believe that it would be encapsulated in Phineka. Her unconditional love has been a healing element for my heart and my life. She’s the epitome of a mother – not just to our own four children, but to countless others that look to her for guidance, wisdom, and care. She seamlessly juggles being a professional communicator with putting together science fair projects. I secretly believe that somewhere hidden deep underneath her skin there is a huge “S” for the superwoman that she is.

My husband has blessed my kids with a gift that I was never able to personal enjoy: an amazing father. Through the years, I have watch him evolve into a man who is not only a provider, but an active participant in their lives – from homework, to basketball and ballet, and even as a cheer dad. Very often with our line of work it can feel as if one parent is doing it alone, but he’s never made me feel as if that was the case. He loves me, he loves them, and he leads our home from that space of consistent love.

Our support system
Though we do not have blood relationships in our immediate proximity, our support system and network of extended relationships is one that goes beyond our articulation. FRAMILY – family to the Friends – has shown up with/for us time and time again. Honestly speaking, they may be more excited about our future additions than we are! We believe every strong family has its lifeline in the relationships that support it. And for us, we have been blessed beyond measure with people who genuine love us.
